Gavin Taylor is a boy who goes to the independent school Forrest Hill in York where he bullies Matt, knowing that he is different.

He taunts Matthew Freeman, making him angry which causes Matt to make the chandelier explode because Matt cannot control his powers fully. Gavin becomes scared of Matt and accuses him (rightly) of causing the accident. He goes to see the nurse where his hand is bandaged. The last time the two boys meet is when Matt saves the entire school from being killed in a fire; as Matt leaves the school, the other boy is crying.
